Physical Description In a few words, N'Livek is tall, thin, and in general, looks just about bird-boned, even for her waifish frame: entirely to do with a family that’s lived on Luna for generations. Despite being a perfectly healthy Vulcan, she is consistently mistaken for being underweight. Her cheekbones are high, yet gently sloping to each side. Her eyebrows are high and pointed, and her hair is cropped to her chin: a no-nonsense 'fashion' that is as practical as it is attractive. Her ears taper into dull points, and are set back along her head.

Personality & Traits

General Overview N’Livek is a Vulcan, and as such, suffers from the same series of social difficulties as most. Interactions that would be considered ‘delicate’ are most certainly not her strong point, as she follows the idea of ‘Vulcan Philosophy’ to a fault. She is opposed to the idea that violence is as an effective means to an end as diplomacy, but recognizes that it is a necessary tool, and sometimes, a useful weapon, in carefully measured doses. She is often viewed as a ‘cold fish’, albeit an incredibly efficient one: she does not allow personal feelings or ideas to get in the way of performing her duties to the utmost. This has it’s own series of advantages and disadvantages, and she prioritizes efficiency and performance over niceties and interaction. She is a strong proponent of tradition, and is resistant to change.

Strengths & Weaknesses N’Livek is extremely self-controlled (unusually so for a Vulcan), and reasonably confident: she is perfectly capable of sacrificing the unnecessary for performance. As such, she’s not exactly the most social of people: situations where tact is required are not exactly her forte. She does poorly in social situations, but, through practice, is able to almost exactly identify feelings and emotions of others through careful observation of their body language, and tone.
Ambitions As was her goal for joining Starfleet, N'Livek wants to move forward enough her her life, and save up enough resources, to live by herself, in the middle of nowhere, on a far-flung colony. Her number one interest outside of Starfleet is perfecting her control over herself, and her feelings: a place to call ones' own, totally self-sufficient, is her final goal.
Hobbies & Interests N'Livek devours books, novels, virtually any piece of literature she can get her hands on. It is the thing she does more often than almost anything else, and since reading and research pertains to her job, she is often doing work when she's off-shift. When she isn't reading something, however, she enjoys building models, and dioramas: the perfect control and search for perfection in these displays is appealing.

Personal History N'Livek was born on Luna, near Tranquility Base. Her parents were, as one might expect, a pair of Vulcans: Azeriak and T’Orlyn. Both of these people were involved with the Tranquility Shipyard, and as a result, had a unique perspective to pass along as to the needs and values of life: a perspective tempered by the rough realities of yard-work. Life on the Moon was not altogether difficult, and much of N'Livek’s early life is unremarkable: aside, of course, from being one of the few Vulcan families living on Earth’s only natural satellite. From a very young age (which probably oughtn’t come as a surprise, given the neighborhood), the young N'Livek was fascinated with spaceflight, and knew that she would have to have a career that involved stellar travel. This, of course, led to her interest in Starfleet and the Academy: one doesn’t simply grow up in a Starfleet facility and not become accustomed to their living style. It helped that N'Livek always had a knack for “knowing things”: especially those secrets which would enable her to leverage people for things she needed, or to simply be left alone; this skill was invaluable for a Vulcan child in a Human dominated system. It is here that she also developed her observational repertoire, as well. In a closed system like Tranquility (and to a lesser extent, all the Lunar facilities) the ability to compound the knowledge of -what- to say with -how- to say it opens far more doors (metaphorically, when not literally). Life in the facility was unremarkable from there: she went through the same education programs with her peer group, and as much as N'Livek distanced herself from it, it was at the recommendation of her parents that she entered Starfleet Academy. Her original plan was to go into Engineering, but she found the work entirely logical and sensible, but entirely unfulfilling, and while she knew why, she didn’t seem happy about it. Denying to herself that it was the idea of enjoyment that she craved, she slid career paths from Engineering into Starfleet Medical because she felt that she could be best used elsewhere: her talent lied in gathering and using information, not working uninspired repairs and following rote techniques for her entire career. Her performance, which had been lacklustre up to that point, suddenly skyrocketed; N'Livek went from competing for the last five slots in her class to among the top performers. The royally amusing irony of a Vulcan playing the part of a counselor was certainly not lost on Academy personnel: as it was, she couldn’t seem to be dissuaded, and had a clear aptitude for it. Three years later, she graduated with honours, went for active duty and hasn’t looked back since. To do so would be...illogical, of course.
